Susan+Boyle Susan Boyles Album Goes On SaleFinally, British reality TV singing sensation Susan Boyle , who shot to fame after her audition for “Britain’s Got Talent” was aired in April, appears set to have the biggest album in Britain this year, music retailer HMV said on Monday.

I Dreamed A Dream,” Boyle’s debut album released by Sony Music, went on sale in Britain on Monday and hits stores in the key U.S. market on Tuesday.

“Just eight months ago, no one was aware of the talents of Susan Boyle. Now, she has generated more Amazon pre-order CD sales globally than any other artist,” said Julian Monaghan, head of music buying at Amazon.co.uk.

On the eve of the release, Boyle, 48, performed a cover of the Rolling Stones’ hit “Wild Horses” on British TV show X-Factor.

“That is an incredible achievement and is testament to the fact that she has captured the hearts of people all over Britain, America and the rest of the world.”

Amazon declined to give sales figures.

As a singer, she offers something else: relief. Boyle’s clear but warm tone and stolid phrasing turns everything it touches into a more songful version of New Age music. It’s relaxing to listen to those drawn-out syllables, gradually building toward a gentle, wavelike climax. Boyle possesses neither an impulse to swing nor an ounce of the blues; whether she’s covering the Monkees, the Rolling Stones or Madonna, Boyle sings like she’s in a place of worship, surrounded by white walls and soft light, cooking up some chicken soup for the soul.
