Melissa ‘Missy’ Giove facing prison

Do you remember Giove? Giove , nicknamed “The Missile” for her aggressive riding style, was the downhill world champion in 1994 and won World Cup season titles in ‘97 and ‘98, then captured national titles from 1999-2001. One of the sport’s first mainstream female stars, she retired from downhill racing in 2003.

According to the Saratoga Springs Saratogian, Melissa “Missy” Giove, a former downhill bike racing champion, was busted by the DEA for possession of 384 pounds of marijuana together with Eric Canori.

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officers found the marijuana, along with over US$1million and packing material at 22 Preserve Way, Saratoga Springs, NY.

If found guilty, Giove and Canori could face up to 40 years in jail and a fine of up to $US2million. Giove and Canori are in the custody of U.S. Marshals pending court hearings Thursday afternoon. It wasn’t immediately determined if they had hired lawyers.
