Free Fathers Day e Cards

Sunday, June 21, 2009, marks the day Fathers are recognized and celebrated. For some that means attending religious services, cooking on the grill, having group dinners at restaurants, or just letting Dad know how grateful you are for his guidance and direction with cards and gifts.

fathers day Free Fathers Day e CardsFor the blended family, this can become awkward, if not totally difficult. Let’s be honest; there are not an array of cards that read, “Happy Father’s Day to my Stepdad!”; however, there are options.

Technology has made it easier for blended families today. Stepchildren can personalize e-cards online and send to their stepfathers via email. For those who do not use email, there are several online options where cards can be personalized and mailed to you for delivery or directly to your stepfather.

In the Cincinnati area, most Walmart and Target stores (find the Walmart or Target nearest you) have the Kodak greeting card system where people can create and print specialized greeting cards. There is also the option of blank cards where stepchildren can write their very own sentimental words or for younger children draw a picture.

Remembering the stepfather on Father’s day does not mean neglecting the biological father. If the stepfather and stechild are in the same town, a brief visit to drop off a card and a heartfelt, “Happy Father’s Day” will be very much appreciated. Stepfathers understand that their stepchildren will be spending the majority of the day with their father and/or with their own children to be celebrated.

For young children who live in the home with their mother and stepfather, a nice family breakfast would be a great way to start Father’s day with the stepfather. Cards and gifts can be presented and then the mother can get the children ready for the outing with their Dad.

A very nice touch is for the stepfather and the father to exchange a verbal “Happy Father’s day” with each other and a respectable handshake. Mom should also say “Happy Father’s day” and both should tell the group to have fun.
